FAQ’s

What to Wear:

  • Wedding Ceremony & Reception – “Summer of Love Chic”

We’re embracing a 1960s/1970s Summer of Love vibe, so we encourage guests to lean into the groovy aesthetic—think bold colors, flowy dresses, funky prints, vintage-inspired suits. If that’s not your vibe, just wear something colorful!

Since the ceremony is outdoors, we highly recommend comfortable shoes that can handle grass and gravel. And because the PNW likes to keep us on our toes, bring a light layer for the evening.

  • Weekend Events – Casual & Campfire-Ready

The rest of the weekend is fairly casual, so pack your favorite laid-back, outdoor-friendly clothes. If you’re joining in on activities like hiking or yoga, bring what you need to move comfortably. And don’t forget cozy layers for the campfire on Friday night.

The weather on Bainbridge Island does what it wants. Rain is always a possibility, so toss in a rain jacket just in case.

The Venue:

  • Will we be inside or outside?

Both! We'll have the ceremony outside, but dinner will be under a tent and the reception will be inside. Any extra time can be spent outside enjoying what Islandwood and the PNW has to offer.

  • Staying at IslandWood - What should I pack?

We will provide toiletries for the cabins. If you want to bring some gear, we recommend flashlights or headlamps for any late night exploring and highly encourage reusable water bottles to use throughout the weekend.

While plenty of food and drinks will be provided throughout the weekend, we recommend bringing extra snacks and any other beverages you might want. There aren't any stores or restaurants within walking distance, and most general stores on the island have limited hours.

  • But what about my amazing children?

We love your kids—we really do. But we have decided to have our wedding be an adult-only occasion. We hope this advance notice means you are still able to attend our big day!

  • What if I have dietary restrictions or am vegetarian or vegan?

Please let us know if you have any dietary choices, restrictions, or allergies and IslandWood's chef will accommodate you.

  • How do I get around?

We’ll provide shuttles on Friday and Saturday between IslandWood, the ferry dock, and local hotels, as Uber and taxis are limited on the island. If you need a ride to the ferry dock on Sunday, please let us know, and we’ll match you with another guest heading that way.

If you’d prefer to drive, IslandWood has plenty of parking available. You may leave your car there overnight. Please be mindful and don’t drink and drive.

  • Is the venue ADA accessible?

Yes! All indoor and most outdoor spaces at Islandwood are wheelchair accessible.

Golf carts are available to transport those with mobility needs. Please let us know in advance if you will be needing one.

Service animals are permitted, but please contact Islandwood to coordinate if you plan to bring one.

  • Can I smoke?

Technically, IslandWood is a non-smoking campus due to legalities of affiliation with the public school system.

There will be two designated smoking areas, one near the Welcome Center arrival path and one in the parking lot.

Otherwise, no vaping or smoking is allowed on campus. Please just be sure not to leave any butts around that children could find (we will also incur a penalty should this happen!).

  • What amenities does IslandWood have?

    Yes, there is WiFi!

    Each lodge is equipped with:

Small fridge for any medication or snacks you need to keep cool.

Linen closet with extra blankets and towels, plus first aid supplies (just in case).

Hair dryers & small fans available on request.

    Laundry rooms in each lodge.

Amenity basket to help you out if you’ve forgotten anything essential (we’ve got you covered).

    Important:

Rooms do not have TVs, telephones, alarm clocks, coffee makers, or irons (we’re going for rustic charm here, folks!).

The showers are stocked with an all-in-one wash—one dispenser to rule them all. We will also provide small shampoos and conditioners.

Need an extra pillow? A blanket? Extra towels? You can find all of that in the Guest Closet in each lodge.

We highly suggest you bring a refillable water bottle. IslandWood is a sustainable venue and plastic is discouraged.
